I really enjoyed talking with everyone at parent/teacher conferences. If you thought of anything after we met don't hesitate to contact me!
I am late at posting awards from the October Tiger Pride Assembly, but here they are!
Terrific Tiger Award Winners: Tyler Woodham and Kendrik Troutt
Academic Award Winners: Anastasia Jones and Noah Rogers
Drop in a Bucket Award Winners: Kenadie Johnson and Tucker Nothum
Whole Class Awards: Music Award and Box Top Winners
I have everything mapped out for November, so below are some things happening in 4th grade from now until Thanksgiving.
Reading: New weekly reading homework will be coming home. Your child should be reading at least 20 minutes each night.
In class we are reading nonfiction texts and working on main idea, author's purpose, and summarizing a text.
Writing: We have been working on opinion writing and are starting our drafts this week. Your child will have the opportunity to publish their writing after we have worked on their draft together and then they start a new one by themselves following the fourth grade opinion writing rubric.
Math: We are working on multiplying 2-digit by 2-digit numbers. We will finish up and test before Thanksgiving break. Students may have some homework coming home if they are in need of some extra practice.
Social Studies: We are working on our Missouri Regions project. Students are working in groups researching and convincing visitors to visit their specific region. Some are designing a website and some are making a commercial. I can't wait to share the finished products! This will be a part of their social studies grade, as well as, their speaking and listening grade.
Upcoming Events:
Below are some websites your child can get on at home. With breaks coming up, these might be helpful refreshers for those days at home. Your child should know their username and password, but in case they forget just Dojo me and I can quickly find their information for any of these.
