I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend! I hope your child didn't come home too sugared up on Friday ;)
Thank you to all the parents who brought in supplies or helped out with the Valentine's Day party. You truly made it a special event for the kids! I was very impressed with the creativity of all the boxes they brought in.
There are not any new announcements coming out this week, but a few things happening in the classroom that you should be aware of.
Reading: Every week I send students home with Weekly Reading Homework. This is a great way to see if your child is understanding what they are reading. They only need to read 20 minutes a night and then fill out a short paragraph. This is not mandatory, but every student needs to be reading at home so they can improve. I tell them all the time, "You will only become a better reader if you read!"
Writing: The students are starting their famous Missourian writing and will be working on it for the next two weeks. They have an at home project that will go along with their biography. I will send home all the information on that tomorrow. If you have any questions about it don't hesitate to contact me!
Math: Your student should have came home with their math test from this week. It was over equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. Tomorrow we start adding and subtracting fractions and will be working on that for the next two weeks. If you feel like your student is struggling in math (or I contact you about your student struggling) and they would benefit from some after school tutoring with me, I would be more than happy to set that up. Just let me know!
