Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend and I can't wait to hear about it from the kiddos today. Last week we hit the ground running in math with place value and are getting our procedures down in reading and writing.
We take our first math assessment for Topic 1 this Thursday. We will take a practice test on Wednesday, just as a review and a way to get used to our first 4th grade math test. That practice test will come home with the students on Wednesday so they can practice/study if they need to :)
Assignments that I have graded have been coming home and I just wanted to clarify what each grade meant on your child's paper...
M=Mastery- this means the student has mastered the targeted knowledge and the specific skill.
NM=Near Mastery- this means the student understands the material that supports the targeted learning, but is still working to master the specific skill.
R= Remediation- this means the student shows no understanding of the material or struggles with the skill when working independently.
We start our first spelling list this week as well. Below is a link to Spelling City, which has our list of words for the week and a way for students to practice online. If you are old school (like me) and would like a hard copy, that will be coming home with students tonight.

I think that is about it for now! If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact me.
Just a reminder that we do not have school this Friday (9/01) and Monday (9/04). Have a great week!
